About

Las Bugambilias opened in 2007. It is owned by husband and wife Carlos Molina and Michelle Zimmerman. Chef Molina is the former executive chef of Tequilas Restaurant at 15th and Locust, between 1999 to 2006. He studied Culinary Arts in Cancun and Mexico City. Carlos is in tune to the methodology which bears a strong culinary base in traditional Mexican cooking. Most of the dishes at Las Bugambilias are grounded in traditional Mexican cooking with native, Spanish or French roots. Mexican cooking is very regional, much like Italian, French, or American. The regional cuisine of Las Bugambilias is mostly from Mexico City, Puebla, Vera Cruz and the Yucatan region. Las Bugambilias specializes in dishes like mole traditional from Puebla, cochinita pibil from Yucatan, la Tampiquena from Tamulipus and caldo Tlapeno from Mexico City.

The first time I came here I was very impressed. The second time makes me never want to visit again. They made my order wrong and did not omit an item I’m allergic to. I asked them to not include it. The bartender/server went back an forth with me about it when they were in the wrong. They basically repacked the same food into diff container. I asked for it to be REMADE. Praying they didn’t spit in my food. Smh

Flavorful all around. Perfectly sized portions. The molcajete was brimming with heat and flavor. The pastor taco appetizer was crispy and fresh. Drinks were large! Staff did everything to make you feel at home.

We were a party of five...4 loved their meals but 1 did not at all (fish tacos). Hence the rating of 4. Great ceviche!

We took our kids here for our little boy (Seve’s) 3rd birthday!!! Our server was John and he was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! He made our visit a great one. He played with the kids and was super helpful, informative and accommodating!!! He made us feel very welcome!!! Our little boy was so happy that John sang Happy Birthday to him when he brought his dessert!!! Thanks so much for making us feel at home, we will definitely be back again!!! Food was great, atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the restaurant was clean!!!

You cant find a more authentic Mexican eatery in town! Delicious cuisine from the Chef. Friendly staff and the wait time was minimal. Great place!
