As soon as you walk in you are overcome with a delicious aroma, as well as seeing the walls plastered with many photos and letters of A list celebrities to dine there, such as Kobe Bryant. The best part of Jim’s is the cheesesteak itself. Absolutely delicious, especially if you go the traditional route, using cheese whiz.

A famous spot on South 9th street is the Italian Market. It is a Neighborhood in South Philly with many restaurants, cheese shops, grocery stores, etc. well tailored to make your stay in Philadelphia worthwhile. The historic 9th Street District between Christian Street and Washington Avenue is the historic heart of the market. We visited Easter Sunday and there were lots of fun activities on the streets. There you will get to try Cheesesteak at Larry’s, Jim’s, Steve’s. These delicious steaks from Jim’s Steaks, widely touted as one of the best authentic cheeses in Philadelphia! We highly recommend visiting South Street to enjoy its lively atmosphere. 

Every day, an almost constant flow of people settles down to take a picture of the Rocky statue at the bottom of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, then climb the grand staircase of the museum to try out the famous two-armed salute. Originally created for a Rocky III scene, this sculpture is a real-life monument to a celluloid hero who remains the fictional favorite son of the City of Brotherly Love. Visiting the statue, climbing the steps and taking a photo up, arms raised for victory is a must during any first visit to Philadelphia. Think of it as a rite of passage.

If you are a lover of Hockey, you sure don’t want to miss going to a Flyers game. Since 1967, the Philadelphia Flyers have always competed as one of the top teams in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Flyers made numerous appearances in the Stanley Cup finals, bringing the home title to Philadelphia in 1974 and 1975. When the Flyers make their mark at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia, the crowd is animated by a sea of orange and black. 

Basketball geeks will find this place interesting. One of the country’s most famous sports venues, The Palestra – located at the University of Pennsylvania – is located just five minutes from downtown Philadelphia. Opened in 1927, The Palestra is now the oldest major university arena still in use and has hosted more games, more visiting teams and more NCAA tournaments than any other institution.

A visit to The Palestra gives the impression of taking a trip back in time, a time before the luxurious halls, the $ 1,000 seats and the giant plasma dashboards. At a time when the game was a little more simple. Maybe the plaque inside The Palestra better explains the aura of the arena. It reads: “Winning the match is great. Play the game is bigger. But loving the game is the best of all.”

A competition was held to decide on a new name for the team. “76ers” became the winning team name chosen by Walter Stalberg. The name comes from the signing of the Declaration of Independence of the United States in Philadelphia in 1776. It is always a worthwhile experience sitting to watch the Sixers in a game.  Whether it’s Joel Embiid showcasing his master skills, or the young gun Ben Simmons, there is always excitement that will keep you on the edge of your seat. 

Rittenhouse Square is a small public park that serves as a picnic spot or to walk among trees, green spaces and beautiful sculptures. The surrounding neighborhood is one of Philadelphia’s most expensive residential neighborhoods. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants surrounding the Rittenhouse Square. These are great places to relax while watching people and best of all, relaxing. We had a very good meal at the park, indulging in cold King Crab Legs. It was one of our most enjoyable experiences in Philadelphia. 

Developed by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, Penn’s Landing’s free seasonal park is an essential hot summer attraction with its many restaurants, beer garden, hammocks, colorful LED lights, and entertainment program. Dozens of colorful hammocks offer shady places to relax. Day and night, Spruce Street Harbor Park offers great options for outdoor activities. The park also has an arcade, shuffleboard, and a giant Jenga, as well as boat rentals – think of kayaks and swans.

Once the sun sets, the park lights up with hundreds of multicolored LEDs hanging through trees, creating a brilliant evening show. Each year, improvements make the navigation experience in the park even better than the previous one, with new ways to enjoy the warm weather in the context of the Delaware River Waterfront. 

Rail Park is a 3 km park that connects 10 neighborhoods and crosses 50 blocks. Everything is on the unused tracks of the former Reading Railroad. And it has three sections: The Viaduct, the Cut and the Tunnel. Hundreds of people walk there every day. It hovers over the streets of the city, block by block. It crosses the main artery of this city. But many do not look and few look down.

A majority of Philadelphians do not even know it exists. But this is the case and it continues to live and grow without a single care. The view is better than that of Drake’s album; It is almost impossible to take a bad picture. It’s for friends, lovers, painting, plants, steel, swings, art, history, education, imagination. It is a connection that will make traveling without car fun. It is a historic link to the future of green spaces in Philadelphia. 

Congress Hall was originally constructed as the County Courthouse of Philadelphia. Like the democratic ideals it has served, the Congress Hall is simple but powerful. The country’s new legislature occupied the former courthouse, a two-story Georgian brick structure that typified the roles of Congress. Notable historical achievements in the convention center include the creation of the first US bank, the Federal Mint and the Department of the Navy, and the ratification of Jay’s treaty with England.

The second floor (Upper House), where the US Senate met, is more elaborate, with deep green walls and fabrics. The carpet encompassing the American eagle surrounded by the seals of the 13 states of origin dominates the room. Larger-than-life portraits of Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI, gifts from the French government, are on display in the adjacent meeting rooms. 

The Liberty Bell is a large metal bell that is widely regarded as an iconic symbol of American independence. The bell was completed in 1753 and used as a bell of the city to inform the inhabitants of Philadelphia of proclamations or danger. It is so famous because it was claimed that the bell had rung on July 4, 1776, when the declaration of independence was adopted.

With regard to the visible cleft on the bell, a common story is that it was created in 1835 when it rang to proclaim the death of Chief Justice John Marshall. Today, the bell is located in the Liberty Bell Center, a building inside the Independence National Historic Park. You do not need tickets to enter the Liberty Bell Center. 

The brightest light on Avenue of the Arts is the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, a dazzling regional performing arts center, with a discreet brick exterior rising to a daring 150-foot vaulted glass roof. a striking view of the city. One of Philly’s most popular destinations for running and cycling, Kelly Drive Loop is a nearly nine-mile tour that runs along both sides of the Schuylkill River. Depending on the season, you will find rowing rowers downriver, weeping cherry trees with beautiful pink flowers or geese giving the role of baby chicks along the way.

The paved trail begins behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art and runs along Boathouse Row before reaching Falls Bridge in East Falls. At the bridge, hang a left, cross the other side of the river and return to the city to complete the second half of the loop on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

In 1824, the Franklin Institute opened at Independence Hall to pay tribute to Benjamin Franklin and his inventiveness. It is the birthplace of both the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

So yes, as you can imagine this is one historical building with much to learn, see, and feel a part of. The best part is, it’s free. It comes with a guided tour that starts from the east wing. The only catch here, is you need to acquire a free timed ticket available at the visitor’s center. They go really fast so you would want to get yours as soon as you decide to see this building.

If you have kids or need a family-oriented space that is, of course, free, then you need Franklin Square. Franklin Square is the most family-oriented square in Philly and also the only free one.
