The Ultimate November 2019 Things to Do Guide

The NBA season is finally back and in full swing. Catch the 76ers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, in what is sure to be an exciting matchup. The 76ers are hoping to have a more productive season with help from stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. However, the entire team must be in top form if they want to shutdown the Cav’s star rookie, Darius Garland.

Wrestling fans look no further, the WWE is returning to Philly once again. This Friday night showdown is sure to impress, as its a double main event. The first main event matchup pins Roman Reigns, who recently beat his battle with leukemia and is eager to win back his championship belt, against King Corbin, former NFL star. The second matchup, however, has much more at stake, as its the Intercontinental Championship Match. This showdown will feature Daniel Bryan, the 26th Triple Crown Champion, as he takes on Shinsuke Nakamura, winner of both the Intercontinental Championship and NXT Championship. 

When Tom Brady and co. come to town, it is bound to be a high scoring game where the best team will come out on top. The Eagles will have to play at their very best level, as the Patriots are coming off a victorious 2019 year, being crowned Super Bowl champs. Who knows, maybe the ‘Iggles’ will break out the infamous, “Philly Special.”

Nothing beats Sunday night football, especially when the Eagles are playing. On November 24th, the Eagles will be taking on our west coast foe, the Seattle Seahawks. The Seattle Seahawks boast an electric defense with star quarterback, Russell Wilson, and equally capable defense headlined by Bobby Wagner. To win this game, the Eagles must bring their best defensive game and creativity to their offensive game plan. 

The Philadelphia Flyers will take on the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, November 29th at 4:00 PM at Wells Fargo Center. This game will offer a great matchup, as both teams are of similar quality. The Red Wings playmaker Dylan Larkin will be sure to be a handful for the Flyers defense, however, Shayne Gostisbehere has what it takes to shut him and the rest of the Red Wings down offensively.

Iconic, Grammy-award winning band Fleetwood Mac will be traveling to Philly once again! An evening with Fleetwood Mac means nothing but quality music and good times. This is your opportunity to hear hit songs such as, “The Chain,” and, “Rhiannon.” Whether it’s a date night or a night out with friends or family, you can’t go wrong.

The Rocket Man himself is making his way to the Wells Fargo Center. Elton John is by far one of the most prolific singer and songwriters to ever grace the stage, globally. Elton single handedly has achieved 26 gold, 38 platinum, and 1 diamond album, while also boasting over 300 million records sold worldwide. Whether you’ve seen him live before, or have been waiting for a lifetime, this is your chance.

Indie rock has become increasingly popular over recent years, with The 1975 at the top of much of the popularity. Originally formed in England, the band has found global stardom through 3 No. 1 albums, and rightfully so. Each album produced by the group seemingly gets better as the band improves and utilizes a different sound, unique to themselves. If your friends don’t want to come along, find “Somebody Else” to share the memories.

When it comes to legendary rock acts, not many top Sting. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, better known as Sting, found his fame through his key role in hit rock band, The Police. After pursuing a solo act, his stardom reached an all time high, with highlights including performing at the Queen’s birthday party. Though it’s been years since his days with the Police, fans can still enjoy Sting performing classics as he pays tribute to his early years.

Irish musician Hozier is bringing his talents to The Met. Hozier found international fandom after releasing hit song, “Take Me to Church,” among his most notable hits. Besides producing hit songs, much of his fame is also attributed to his sound, which intertwines the blues and indie elements, creating a distinctive sound to himself. He does not tour very often, so this is an excellent opportunity to see a rare class act, live.

It’s time to Git-R-Done and catch Larry the Cable Guy live. Regarded as one of the top comedians in the country, Larry is a multi-platinum recording artist, Grammy nominee, and Billboard award winner. With his southern twang and hilarious jokes, he single handedly has sold out arenas countrywide. Looking for a snippet of the night to be had? Check out his famous, “Lord, I Apologize,” comedy album that is sure to get you excited for the night to be had.

After spending a year studying acting at NYU, Chris D’Elia decided to focus on comedy. Since then, his acting career has blossomed into star roles in hit shows such as, “The Good Doctor,” and, “Whitney.” In addition to acting, D’Elia is an excellent stand-up comedian, being featured on shows from Comedy Central to Conan. An added bonus of this show is that you can try your luck at the Wind Creek Casino afterwards. 

Nikki Glaser is one of the dominant female voices in today’s comedy world. After immense success with her recent Netflix special, “Bangin’,” Glaser is now going on tour! She is widely known for her brutally honest comedy that keeps fans across the country laughing. If you’re looking for a Saturday night full of comedic gold, this is the place to be.

Who doesn’t love Howie Mandel? He’s won all of America’s hearts through his colorful personality. Whether it be as the host of, “Deal or No Deal,” or his hilarious judge role on, “America’s Got Talent,” he routinely fills the homes of America with pure laughter. A trip to Atlantic City for the weekend is always a great time, especially when a highlight is seeing a class act like Howie Mandel.

If you’re a fan of White Chicks or Scary Movie, this event is a must for you. Marlon Wayans will be returning once again to Philly’s own, Punch Line. Wayans in addition to being an actor, is a comedian with a repertoire of hilarious jokes and skits. In recent months, besides touring, Wayans starred in his own Netflix movie, “Sextuplets,” in which he sets off on a journey to meet his long-lost family, all of which are played by him.

Foodies of Philly, this event is calling your name. Taste! Will present this festival which showcases all that is delicious in the world of fine wine, food, and spirits. Your Grand Market ticket gets you admission to see demonstrations by renowned chefs and A-list celebrities, tastings, hands on seminars, and more. There is also a number of ticket add-ons that are well worth your while. We recommend the $15 add-on for the beer and chocolate pairing class, as nothing sounds quite as good as artisan chocolate and craft beer.

Who doesn’t love apples? If you’re a fan of this tasty fruit, Peddler’s Village Apple Fest is perfect for you. This two day event highlights the fruit in all its forms, from a simple raw apple to apple cider to apple pie. In addition, this event will have plenty of live entertainment and activities, like axe throwing, and even food trucks, such as Waffle Mamas. Plus, while you’re strolling around taking in all of the festivities, there is plenty of shopping options in the village.

Reading Terminal Market will present this one day affair that pairs all the greatness of oysters with even greater craft beers. Did I mention it is also an all you can eat and drink event? Here, your unlimited dining experience includes over a dozen varieties of raw oysters alongside a dozen craft beers. Better yet, all the net proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia, so you can have a great time and benefit your community.

Celebrate the holidays early this year at Peddler’s Village Christmas Festival. From Santa parades on both days to catching the annual gingerbread house competition and display, this will be sure to put you in a jolly mood. The event is completely free, including parking, but it does tend to get a bit busy. We recommend getting there early, as it will be far easier to find parking and you’ll be able to enjoy all the festivities with a smaller crowd. 

If you haven’t had a chance to catch Hamilton live, your chances are dwindling. This showing is one of the dozen shows left to be played in Philly. It’s no mistake this blockbuster Broadway show is sweeping the nation, as it’s truly in a league of its own. Unlike any theatrical performance, this production intertwines a phenomenal storyline that is accompanied by excellent music. Be sure to reserve your tickets soon, they routinely sell-out.

Our personal favorite is the Ecuadorian ‘Wheel of Death’, it’s an absolute thrill to watch!

Catch Regina George and the rest of your favorites from the hit movie, “Mean Girls,” on Broadway. The production is full of witty humor that will keep you laughing the entire time, and you might find yourself loving the play even more than the movie itself. Be sure to grab your friends and see first hand how Cady takes on the Queen Bee herself, Regina George.
