About

A jamonera (Spanish pronunciation: [xamoˈneɾa]), also known as a portajamones or jamonero, is a form of clamp fixed to a wooden stand, specifically designed to hold a leg of jamón serrano (Spanish cured ham) or jamón ibérico whilst it is sliced. The long and flexible bladed knife used to carve the ham is known as a cuchillo jamonero (Spanish pronunciation: [xamoˈneɾo]).

The device originated in Spain and traditionally has a simple, stout wooden base onto which a metal spike and clamp are fixed. The thinner end of the leg is clamped in an elevated position, while the shank rests on the wood, secured by the spike. Once mounted, the ham is normally stored this way at room temperature, often simply covered with a cloth to prevent excessive drying.

Great intimate Tapis restaurant with excellent food and bar. Would only love to see them offer a bottle of red Spanish wine for less than $54.

Found this place near a friend's hotel and was so pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious! We had the chef's board and a few other tapas and everything was fresh and tasty. The eggplant was one of our favorites.

We stopped to have cappuccinos and churros after a long day of sightseeing and they were AMAZING! Light, crisp and sugary and the salted chocolate caramel dipping sauce was so good! The host was friendly and pleasant and the manager set our table and seated us quickly. We will definitely stop back for dinner next time we visit Philly.

I've been in Spain million times for work so I believe I know a bit of Spanish food. I can't complain about the quality of the food itself, because everything we had was good or very good. I was a bit more concerned about the concept: in Spain the "tapas" concept is a way to eat many different things in a familiar place with a very low price. I do not expect the same cost in Philly, since the cost of living is very different, but at the same time I had the impression that here the tapas concept was used as an excuse for charging a bit too much for small plates. Quality was good, the ratio quality and quantity/price definitely less good.

This is a great little find. The restaurant/bar is small but there is seating outside on the sidewalk. The plates are small but delicious. The tapas was great. This felt more like Spanish fusion but the rich Spanish base was never lost. I liked their cocktails as well.
